    ¿Á¾ß°æ<1>

    ¿Á¾ß°æÀº ±Þ°íµ¶ÀåÀÚÀÇ ¸ç´À¸® ¿Á¾ßÀÇ À̾߱â´Ù.
    ±×³à´Â ±Þ°íµ¶ÀåÀÚÀÇ ¾Æµé¿¡°Ô ½ÃÁý¿ÔÁö¸¸ Ä£Á¤ÀÇ À§¼¼¸¦ ¹Ï°í ±³¸¸Çß´Ù.
    À̸¦ °ÆÁ¤ÇÑ ±Þ°íµ¶ÀåÀÚ´Â ºÎó´ÔÀ» ÃÊûÇÏ¿© °¡¸£Ä§À» ºÎŹÇß´Ù.
    ºÎó´Ô²²¼­´Â ¿Á¾ß¿¡°Ô ÀÏ°ö °¡Áö ¾Æ³»ÀÇ À¯ÇüÀ» ÀÏ·¯Áֽø鼭 ±ú´ÞÀ½À¸·Î À̲ô½Å´Ù.

    Once the Exalted One was dwelling near Savatti, at Jeta Grove, in Anathapindika¡¯
    s Park. And early one morning, after robing himself, the Exalted One, taking bowl
    and cloak went to the home of Anathapindika, the householder; and when he was come,
    he sat down on the seat made ready.

    ¾î´À ¶§ ºÎó´Ô²²¼­´Â »ç¹åƼÀÇ Á¦Å¸ ½£ ±Þ°íµ¶¿ø¿¡ °è½Ã¾ú´Ù.
    ¾î´À ³¯ À̸¥ ¾Æħ¿¡ °¡»ç¸¦ °ÉÄ¡½Å ÈÄ ºÎó´Ô²²¼­´Â ¹ß¿ì¸¦ µé°í ±Þ°íµ¶ÀåÀÚÀÇ ÁýÀ¸·Î
    °¡¼Ì´Ù. ºÎó´Ô²²¼­´Â µµÂøÇϽÃÀÚ ¸¶·ÃµÇ¾î ÀÖ´ø ÀÚ¸®¿¡ ¾ÉÀ¸¼Ì´Ù.

    ¿Á¾ß°æ<2>

    Then said the Exalted One: Sujata, a man may have these seven kinds of wives. What
    seven? One like a slayer, one like a robber, one like a mistress, one like a mother,
    one like a sister, one like a companion and one like a handmaid.
    These, Sujata, are the seven; and which of them are you?

    ºÎó´Ô²²¼­ ¸»¾¸Çϼ̴Ù.: ¼± ¿©ÀξÆ, ³²ÀÚ´Â ÀÌ·± ÀÏ°ö Á¾·ùÀÇ ¾Æ³»¸¦ ¾òÀ» ¼ö°¡ ÀÖ´Ù.
    ÀÏ°ö °¡Áö¶õ ¹«¾ùÀΰ¡? »ìÀÎÀÚ °°Àº ¾Æ³»¿ä, µµµÏ °°Àº ¾Æ³»¿ä, Ä£±¸ °°Àº ¾Æ³»¿ä,
    ¿©ÁÖÀÎ °°Àº ¾Æ³»¿ä, ¾î¸Ó´Ï °°Àº ¾Æ³»¿ä, ´©ÀÌ °°Àº ¾Æ³»¿ä, Á¾ °°Àº ¾Æ³»´Ù.
    À̵éÀÌ ±× ÀÏ°ö °¡ÁöÀÌ´Ù. ±×´ë´Â ¾î¶² ¾Æ³»Àΰ¡?¡¯

    Lord, I do not fully understand what the Exalted One has put it so briefly.
    Well were it for me, lord, if the Exalted One would teach me Dhamma, so that
    I may understand the meaning of the words spoken so tersely by the Exalted One.

    ºÎó´Ô, Àú´Â ¼¼Á¸²²¼­ °£Ãß·Á ¼³ÇϽŠ¹Ù¸¦ Àß ¾ËÁö ¸øÇÏ°Ú³ªÀÌ´Ù.
    Àú¿¡°Ô ¹ýÀ» °¡¸£ÃÄÁÖ½Å´Ù¸é ¼¼Á¸²²¼­ °£°áÇÏ°Ô ¼³ÇϽŠ¸»¾¸ÀÇ Àǹ̸¦ ¾Ë°Ú³ªÀÌ´Ù.


    Then pay heed, listen, I will speak, Sujata.

    ¡®±×·¯¸é ¼±¿©ÀξÆ, ÀßµéÀ¸¶ó, ³»°¡ ¼³Çϸ®¶ó.¡¯

    *Sujata: ÈǸ¢ÇÑ °¡¹®ÀÇ ¾Æµé°ú µþÀ» ÁöĪÇÑ´Ù. ¿©±â¼­´Â ¼±¿©ÀÎÀ¸·Î ¹ø¿ªÇÏ¿³´Ù.

    *Æȸ®¾î·Î Dhamma´Â ¹ý, Áø¸®, µµ(Ô³)ÀÌ´Ù.

    *¼¼Á¸: ºÎó´ÔÀÇ ¿­°¡Áö À̸§°¡¿îµ¥ Çϳª. ¼¼»ó¿¡¼­ °¡Àå Á¸±ÍÇÑ ºÐÀ̶ó´Â ¶æÀÌ´Ù.

    ¿Á¾ß°æ<3>

    Whoso is pitiless, corrupt in mind,
    Neglecting husband and unamiable,
    Inflamed by other men, a prostitute,
    On murder bent-
    Let her be called: a slayer and a wife!

    ±×¸¦ ÀÏ·¯ »ìÀÎÀÚ °°Àº ¾Æ³»¶ó ÇÑ´Ù.

    Whoso would rob her husband of his gains-
    Though little be the profit that he makes,
    Whether by craftsmanship, or from his trade,
    Or by the plough-
    Let her be called: a robber and a wife!

    ³²ÆíÀÌ ¹ú¾î¿Â °ÍÀ» »©¾ÑÀ¸·Á ÇÏ´Â ÀÌ
    ±×¸¦ ÀÏ·¯ µµµÏ °°Àº ¾Æ³»¶ó ÇÑ´Ù.

    The slothful glutton, bent on doing nothing,
    A gossip and a shrew with strident voice,
    Who brings to low account of her husband¡¯s zeal
    And industry-
    Let her be called: a mistress and a wife!

    *whoso: whoever ÀÇ °í¾î·Î ¡®~ÇÏ´Â »ç¶÷Àº ´©±¸³ª¡¯ÀÌ´Ù.

    ¿Á¾ß°æ<4>

    Whoever and with loving sympathy,
    Just as a mother for her only son,
    For husband cares, and o'er his stored up wealth
    Keeps watch and ward-
    Let her be called: a mother and a wife!

    Who holds her husband in the same regard
    As younger sister holds the elder born,
    The meek in heart, who in his every wish
    Her husband serves-
    Let her be called: a sister and a wife!

    ±×¸¦ ÀÏ·¯ ´©ÀÌ °°Àº ¾Æ³»¶ó ÇÑ´Ù.


    And she who is as glad her lord to see
    As boon companions long apart to meet,
    A gracious character of gentle birth,
    A fond helpmate-
    Let her be called: companion and a wife!

    If fearless of the lash and stick, unmoved,
    All things enduring, calm and pure in heart,
    She bear obedience to her husband's word,
    From anger free-
    Let her be called: a handmaid and a wife!

    ¸ðµç °ÍÀ» Âü¾Æ³»°í ½É¼ºÀÌ °í¿äÇÏ°í ±ú²ýÇÏ¿©
    ³²ÆíÀÇ ¸»¿¡ º¹Á¾ÇÏ°í È­¸¦ ³»Áöµµ ¾Ê´Â ÀÌ,
    ±×¸¦ ÀÏ·¯ Á¾ °°Àº ¾Æ³»¶ó ÇÑ´Ù.

    Now she who's called: a mistress, slayer, thief,
    Who's harsh, immoral, lacking in respect,
    When cometh death-
    Will wander in the miseries of hell.

    But mother, sister or companion, slave,
    In precept long established and restrained
    When cometh death-
    Will wander in the happy heaven world.

    ¿À·§µ¿¾È °èÀ²¿¡ µû¶ó »ì¸ç ÀýÁ¦ÇÏ¿´±â¿¡
    Á×À½ÀÌ ¿À¸é
    õ»óÀÇ Çູ¿¡ ³ë´Ò °ÍÀÌ´Ù.

    These, Sujata, are the seven kinds of wives a man may have; and which of them are you?
    Lord, let the Exalted One think of me as a handmaid and a wife from this day forth.
